Benevolent Fund

The Agents' Association Benevolent Fund has now been established for many decades. It relies on income from charity performances; our annual Ball and branch functions; and donations from various sources — often from Members themselves.

During our tenure, we have helped a Member finance the refurbishment of a bathroom that required special invalid facilities; covered 'shortfalls' on medical expenses for a small number of Members; and given grants to Brinsworth House. The latter being where a number of our Members who, having retiring from the profession, are now suffering the penalties of old age, but have been able to enjoy the wonderful facilities available there.

The fund is there primarily for Members of the Association but, as a charity, makes occasional donations to other charitable bodies outside of our normal remit. Although such donations are made with the blessing of the Council, we are all very aware that Association Members are of the foremost concern for the Benevolent Fund. We do not make donations to individual people other than Association Members.

Outside donations have included: N.C.H Action for Children; The Knight Foundation For Cystic Fibrosis; The Colon Cancer Trust; Marie Curie Cancer Research; Stars Organisation Supporting Cerebral Palsy and Stage for Age.

All have benefited from the fund thanks to the attention, concern and input of the council.
