Background

The Entertainment Agents' Association Ltd, nowadays trading as The Agents' Association (Great Britain), was established in 1927 to represent and enhance the interests of entertainment agents in the United Kingdom who were willing to be bound by a strict code of conduct and professional ethics. Because of its members' dedication to high standards, it has become a most prestigious organisation.

The Association currently boasts a Membership in excess of 400 Agencies, whose business activities cover virtually every field of Light Entertainment, handling performing artistes and booking throughout the pop and rock music industry, television, film, radio, recording, theatre, musicals, cabaret, clubs, cruising and corporate and outdoor events.

The National Council of Management is elected from the Membership and is undoubtedly made up of some of the most highly respected and knowledgeable agents in the Entertainment Industry.

The external role of the Association within the industry is both highly visible and greatly respected.

It is frequently consulted by Government Departments on an official basis and is, therefore, able to play an active role regarding current and proposed legislation and to influence any matter that has a bearing on the Entertainment Industry. Additionally, regular meetings are held with the Agency Standards Office of the Department of Employment in order that up to date information can be exchanged and disseminated and to ensure that standards are maintained in the industry.

Additionally, meetings are held with Performers' Unions and Theatre and Venue Managements regarding working conditions and standard contracts and in conducting and assisting in arbitrations to resolve disputes.

The Association is a constituent member of the Variety and Light Entertainment Council of Great Britain and full Members of the Association are automatically registered as Approved Agents with the VLEC at no additional cost.

If you are a potential buyer of Artistes or services in the Light Entertainment Industry, you will undoubtedly find much to interest you in these pages. Please remember, however, that this Association represents the Agents who handle the talent and offer the services. It does not, itself, represent Artistes or offer ancillary production services.

Association Members have access to an extensive Members Only area of the site containing searchable databases, business links, latest legislation information and much, much more.
